Hello everyone! I'm Great Hero J - a Canadian PC gamer and creative content maker. I am constantly looking to challenge myself, expand my skill set, and get inspired. I hope you enjoy your visit to my profile!

I'm primarily known for my pixel art, but I also dabble in other areas such as modding, music composition, digital/voxel art, video editing, and design. My ambitions are extensive - on top of these things, I eventually want to learn modelling, 2D and 3D animation, some basic coding, and more.

Gaming

One of my favourite games, and the one that has probably shaped me more than any other (for many reasons), is Unturned. I have deep ties to it both sentimentally and socially, and I've watched it grow from almost the very beginning. I also absolutely love mechanically rich games with impressive depth and extensive modding capability, such as RimWorld, Project Zomboid, and Starsector. In general the genres I play the most are open-world sandbox survival, simulation, strategy, and tactical shooter games. I have a heavy preference towards indie games, and games that are not ranked competitive (to clarify: I love skill-based gameplay and good skill curves/ceilings, they're indicative of a well designed game. I just hate the toxicity of ranked competitive games).

For the majority of my life I had to contend with an absolutely awful PC for gaming, but as of the past few years I've finally undergone an explosion of hardware upgrades, with my first purpose-built gaming PC in 2021. I deeply sympathize with people running lower-end computers and respect games that are well optimized by their developers.

I share my main gaming PC and Steam account with my little brother. :)

My (brief) history with Newgrounds

My first encounter with Newgrounds was through the golden era of Flash games (circa ~2010), a foundation of much of my childhood. Unfortunately for years I never looked into Newgrounds any further, and by the time I did, I had a serious fear that I was too late to the party. It took until 2023 for me to enter the space, with encouragement from friends such as Emizip and staswalle. I'll be using Newgrounds as a way to curate my best work, and also as a chance to delve into one of the most venerable creative platforms ever made. I look forward to contributing here!
